3 Easy, Kid friendly Recipes

If you follow my personal instagram (@cotswoldbotanicalhouse) then you'll see that I love to involve my kids with cooking. My kids are picky, carb-loving, chocolate obsessed sugar demons so getting them involved with the cooking helps vary their diets- they get really excited by their creations.

Plus its a half hour time-killer for when you are feeling guilty on those TV days (we've all been there!) so for when you are at a loss for what to bake here are 3 easy recipes (not the healthiest but definitely the most fun!).

The recipes can be saved/downloaded to your phone to make things a little easier.

1). Homemade butter

Apparently I used to make this as a kid, shaking up the cream in a jam jar until it turns to cream and then separates into buttermilk and butter. My kids are definitely not at an age where they would do this- I would be left with the arm aching job instead. My advice? If your children have the attention span of a gnat like mine then pop it in your food mixer and use the whisk.

2. Shortbread

Hands down a winner in my house and now renamed 'sugar biscuits'. If you have dried lavender then please do add a tablespoon to the mix- it is totally worth it, I promise!

3. Cupcakes

After making approximately 120 of these for Rose's birthday party last year, I can pretty much do these with my eyes closed these days.

A twist to try? Try whipping up some coconut oil buttercream (the usual 2:1 sugar to butter/coconut oil ratio). It makes it taste incredible, its dairy free and it is beautifully white.
