Anyone who follows me on instagram may have noticed that I've been very excited by this year's International Women's Day. A couple of reasons why-
1) I have my very own fiery, determined and very inspirational little woman living in my house. She keeps me on my toes. She made me into the woman I am today and I cannot wait to see the woman that she becomes.
2) . I am very proud to be a woman. I have grown and birthed two beautiful babies and fed them from my breasts. How many men can say that? In business, the photography market until relatively recently was mostly populated by MWCs. Men With Cameras- these are the guys you mostly find wandering around the NECs Photography Show, talking equipment and mansplaining the hell out of posing, lighting and all things technical but who generally lack the emotive, story telling side of creating beautiful images (I have two exceptions to these men. Gary Hill, who is paid to mansplain because lets face it, he is a lighting God and Trevor Yerbury who is lovely, doesn't mansplain anything, and is a genius.). Now, and I haven't tested this, you will find at the very least an equal split if not more women photographers, because lets face it ladies- we rock. We know the images of maternity, newborns and families that we want of our own and how to create these.
So I'd like to apologise for my crazy over-use of instagram stories today where I repost about 20 inspirational mothers, photographers and business women.
They are all holding it together- raising babies, businesses and themselves.
